New Verse Discovered for 1960s Classic

Mommy, that song is kind of sad.
Yes, it is.
…Sing it again?

A new final verse for a sweet classic about loss of innocence and the fleeting nature of childhood.

But then Puff met three children, you all know their names:
Caroline and Margaret too, and then comes little James.
They climbed aboard that dragon ship and Puff became their friend,
And so the song goes on and on, it never has to end.

Oh! Puff the Magic Dragon lives by the sea,
And frolics in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee.
Puff the Magic Dragon lives by the sea,
And frolics in the autumn mist in a land called Honah Lee.

I think I actually came across a version that included a final verse where Jackie Paper’s daughter discovered Puff again. Alas, can’t remember specifics to hunt it down.

Love it! This was one of my favorite songs as a kid, even though it often made me cry as a kid.
